Labuschagne Left Out from Australian One-Day International Squad Against India

Marnus Labuschagne has been dropped from the three-match ODI series facing India, as in-form Queensland teammate Matt Renshaw earning a shock call-up.

Recent Form Result in Omission

The right-hander was left out from the ODI side following managing only a single run in both of his innings during the recent series against South Africa in August. Labuschagne has a highest score of forty-seven in his most recent ten ODI batting appearances.

The batsman has featured in 68 one-day internationals and amassed 1,871 runs at an average of 34.64 runs per dismissal, but will now work towards a Test recall in time for the Ashes starting in Perth on November 21.

Renshaw's Return and Team Updates

Labuschagne has shown signs of a resurgence with 160 for Queensland in the domestic first-class competition this week, while Renshaw also hit a century for the Bulls in the identical match against Tasmania.

The left-hander may to make his ODI debut in the upcoming series against India after previously being selected in an ODI squad in 2022.

Renshaw has played 14 Test matches with the last coming in India in 2023 but is also seeking a red-ball recall as Australia look for a answer to their top-order woes.

Bowling Additions and Injury News

Fast bowler Mitchell Starc makes a comeback for the ODI series against India after taking a break since performing well for Australia in the whitewash of West Indies in July.

BBL performer Mitch Owen could make his ODI debut after being concussed in the lead up to Australia’s last 50-over series against South Africa.

Skipper Pat Cummins remains on the sidelines as he aims to recover from a spinal issue by the time to lead Australia in the opening Test of the Ashes in November.

Team Announcement Strategy and Schedule

Australia have named a squad for only the initial two T20 matches against India with the upcoming Ashes series, although Glenn Maxwell will be absent for the five-game T20 series due to a wrist injury suffered in New Zealand.

Mitch Marsh will captain both the ODI and T20 teams after smashing a century in the last match against New Zealand to seal a series clean sweep last week.

“We have named a squad for the ODI series and initial two matches of the T20 series as there will be player management through the back end of the series as players get ready for the summer through Sheffield Shield cricket,” Australia chair of selectors George Bailey said.
